Castelluci Miano is a family-owned winery some 60 miles south-east of Palermo. High in the mountains, only 30 miles from the coast, they farm 185 acres of vines. The land is spectacularly beautiful. The vineyards lie near Valledolmo in the Madonie mountains, with elevations ranging from 2300 to 3300 feet. Just to the northeast the Pizzo Carbonara, second only to Mount Etna in height, towers over all at 6500 feet. Many of the vines are bush-trained, averaging 20-40 years old. Their naturally low yields give a wonderfully taut character to the wines.
