FRATELLI ALESSANDRIA
Verduno, Italy
This 12 hectare estate boasts choice holdings in Verduno and Monforte. While it has been in the Alessandria family since 1870, it was actually founded at the beginning of the 19th century. In the past it was recognized for its forward-thinking and technical innovation. Today it could be fairly regarded as a very traditional producer, but with the same striving for excellence as ever. Gian Battista rules in the vineyards, his son Vittore and his brother Alessandro are in charge of the winery.
The wines are not manipulated to show an early roundness, but really show Nebbiolo’s capacity to transmit terroir. They reward the attentive. Of course their other varieties are beautifully made as well, not least the very rare Pelaverga, a speciality of Verduno.
