TENUTA DI GRACCIANO
Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, Italy
The Tenuta di Gracciano is one of the oldest estates in the Montepulciano area. Once a vast holding of 400 hectares, today it comprises some 70, 20 of them under vine. The current owner is Giorgio della Seta. Recently retired from a career as an international businessman, he has re-dedicated himself to the family holdings. His daughter Vannozza joined him in managing the winery in 2012. They constructed a new winery in 2013, and are replanting parts of the vineyard. The winery has always been directed by renowned enologists: since 1995 Beppe Rigoli has held the post. The goal is always to make the best wine possible, allowing the terroir to express itself through native grapes.
While the new winery boasts the latest equipment, the ageing cellars host rows of large Slavonian oak casks of 25-50 hectoliters, and 500L French tonneaux (Allier oak, medium toast).
