Luigi and Raffaella Maffini first bottled Kratos in 1996 using fruit from a small family vineyard planted in the 1970s. They gradually grew their estate to 15 hectares, and have gained more plaudits with every subsequent vintage.
Cilento is a coastal area south of Naples protected by a national park designation, and has been recognized as a World Heritage Site of UNESCO. Maffini’s wines are equally distinctive, crafted with an eye to terroir, minerality and elegance.
The vineyards lie in two distinct zones: the first overlooking the sea near Castell’abate, the second in the hills of Giungano near Paestum.
