The Bilbro family have been winning praise for their wines since Chris first bottled Marietta Old Vine Red. When he stepped back from the day-to-day operations, his three sons took some time to figure out the best way forward. Today Sam and Jake have their own projects, and Scot remains at Marietta Cellars.
It’s an exciting time there, as Scot builds on his dad’s legacy. The entire line-up continues to represent outstanding value, but it is fair to say that Scot has brought a new level of complexity and elegance to the wines. As always the paramount goal is pleasure. The Old Vine Red remains a perennial favorite, but the Family Series (Armé, Christo, Román) now shows extraordinary vibrancy, detail and freshness. The Estate Series wines are unique expressions of terroir, where the land itself dictates the style.
